Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide assistance in direct student recruiting, student assessing, student mentoring, and support grant students in gaining professional success to include assisting in placement and job retention.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of outreach and recruitment strategies for the integrated career pathway program.
  • Track student attendance, behavior, and progress.
  • Refer students to network of campus and community service providers.
  • Establish positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Assist in the coordination and/or supportive services to support academic persistence and success.
  • Connect students to college admission processes, including financial aid, academic advising, and academic and student support services.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in coordinating adult education programs such as ESL, ABE, GED, or other basic skills training.
  • Experience in supporting at-risk populations and managing multiple student support activities and coordinating referrals to community partners.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Position requires an efficient, detail oriented, self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines and work well with a minimal of supervision.
  • Strong team orientation with good time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Intermediate level computer application skills including Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of instructional design, program planning and training environments helpful.
  • Ability to focus and keep deadlines.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in social services or education discipline.
  • Experience with student recruiting and advising, workforce placement, or coordinating social services.
  • Experience in providing case management supporting adults from recruitment and intake through certification and employment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, instructional design, program planning and training environments.
  • Knowledge of state AEL (Adult Education Literacy) programs and policies and local public and non-profit support services.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member depending on situation.

Provide information on Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) targeted career and educational pathways.

Document student contact and maintain accurate files in accordance with FERPA guidelines.

Respond appropriately to requests and inquiries from participants, potential participants, affiliated organizations, other educational organizations, grant partners, etc. in a timely fashion.

Maintain student records and assist in completing and submitting grant reports.

Job Duty

Facilitate student success by creating peer networks.

Foster student accountability, self-advocacy, self-awareness, and effective use of resources.

Provide opportunities for students and their families to attend social and cultural events on campus.

Solicit student feedback on and experience with career pathways program.

Assist grant participants as well as grant partners as necessary and appropriate.

Contributes to program success by developing, implementing and coordinating activities to support students in Adult Education, Developmental Education, and other at risk populations to transition to on-campus career pathways and assisting students in applying for a variety of technical program grants and financial support.

Job Duty

Aid staff in assuring quality delivery of scheduled grant classes (both credit and continuing professional development) by supporting instructors at assigned site or campus on a weekly basis.

Travel between campuses to work with students/instructors.

Flexibility in working evenings to accommodate student’s schedules.
