In this role, you will act as the backbone of our agency’s federal funding integrity, leveraging your established expertise to navigate complex grant lifecycles. This position is a strategic opportunity to apply your proven administrative or financial acumen to high-impact projects, deepening your specialization in federal compliance, audit readiness, and advanced program coordination.
We are seeking a candidate who brings a strong foundation in financial principles or project administration and is prepared to apply that knowledge immediately to our mission. This role is designed to leverage your professional background and empower you to drive efficiency, provide guidance, and maintain high-level compliance standards:
Under the direct supervision of the Director’s Office Compliance and Strategies Natural Resource Planner, assist in the coordination of federal grant programs. The Grant Coordinator is responsible for working with agency grant project leaders in planning, developing, and preparing complete grant/award application packages. Coordinate development of monitoring and review of grant performance reports, coordinate grant equipment requests or grant amendments, reimbursement requests and financial reports. Assist in securing and monitoring grant match needs. Provide assistance and training, including development of training content, to agency employees regarding federal requirements, on-line systems, compliance, etc. Support agency audits as needed. Assist supervisor with other administrative duties as assigned.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures with a requirement to come into the office a minimum of 2 days each week at 5000 W. Carefree Hwy. Phoenix, AZ 85086. Remote work eligibility requires completing the training period, meeting performance standards, and ongoing departmental approval.
Knowledge of: Principles and practices of financial management and grant administration; techniques for formulating, tracking, and evaluating operational budgets; strategic planning and performance monitoring; advanced digital platforms and specialized software solutions including AFIS, TRACS, eCivis, Grant Solutions, and Adobe; instructional design and educational program delivery; as well as foundational concepts in wildlife biology, habitat management, and the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program. Skills in: Project administration and oversight; leveraging digital tools and specialized software including TRACS, eCivis, Grant Solutions, AFIS, Google Suite, and Adobe; advanced spreadsheet modeling; creating standardized templates and presentation decks; designing and facilitating instructional programs; public speaking; and crafting polished administrative reports, strategic plans, correspondence, and documentation. Ability to: Fostering clear dialogue and effective coordination among varied stakeholder groups; analyzing complex policies or administrative guidelines to ensure practical application across agency programs; quickly mastering, utilizing, and instructing personnel on specialized systems including AFIS, TRACS, eCivis, and Grant Solutions; delivering well‑structured, clear guidance; and applying sound problem‑solving techniques to navigate challenges and resolve workplace conflicts successfully.
