Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Hartford seeks a Grant Controller to provide financial leadership for a portfolio of grants and contracts. You will manage the financial lifecycle from proposal through closeout, partnering with senior leaders to ensure compliance and accurate reporting.

This hybrid role is based in Waterbury with some Hartford activity, reporting to the CFO, and requires a Bachelor’s in accounting/finance and 3–5 years of grants experience in a nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or grants management.
• Experience interpreting grant agreements and funding requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting systems; nonprofit experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with CFO and Development Officers on grant opportunities and funding requests.
• Oversee financial administration of federal, state, local, and foundation grants.
• Maintain grant budgets, tracking systems, and internal controls.
• Prepare grant-related journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Support audits and provide schedules and documentation for grants.
