Job summary

Wayne State University seeks a Grant/Contract Officer IV for the College of Nursing at the Detroit campus. You will review, negotiate and manage contracts for clinical trial activity, coordinating with principal investigators and the Office of the General Counsel to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a college or university in business administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of research integrity and compliance requirements.
• Considerable experience in preparing and reviewing grant proposals.
• Considerable experience dealing with federal agencies and other funding sources.
• Some experience in administering clinical trial grants and contracts.
• Some experience in contract review and negotiations.
• Experience in higher education or nonprofit environment, preferred.
• Proficient in the use of complex administrative system software/databases.
• Strong written and oral communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Review, edit, and negotiate contracts for clinical trials to ensure documentation balances the interests of sponsors with Wayne State University.
• Determine if contracts require further review by the Office of General Counsel.
• Serve as liaison to Office of General Counsel and affiliated institutions for clinical trial and confidentiality agreements.
• Verify proposals and clinical trial budgets for completeness and conformance with university and agency mandates.
• Track and monitor contracts through each negotiation stage using COEUS; provide data for Researchers’ Dashboard.
• Ensure awards are properly recorded in Cayuse using established parameters for clinical trials.
• Provide training on e-proposals and budgetary processes; present updates at quarterly Research Administrators meetings.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
