Responsibilities

  • Maintain student culture in keeping with policies and school documents.
  • Encourage students to walk in accordance with scripture and school policy.
  • Provide discipline for Grammar School students.
  • Support students in daily responsibilities.
  • Maintain faculty culture in keeping with policies and Scripture.
  • Encourage teachers to walk in accordance with Scripture and school policies.
  • Support teachers in daily responsibilities.
  • Counsel teachers with questions, frustrations, concerns, etc.
  • Observe teachers and provide written feedback.
  • Troubleshoot problems in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist teachers in understanding and implementing classical education.
  • Plan and lead Grammar School department meetings.
  • Record notes and communicate to Grammar School faculty (music and art).
  • Develop Academic Integrity Plans for Grammar School with Academic Dean.
  • Communicate with parents, teachers, students, and administration about behavior or concerns.
  • Communicate directives from administration to Grammar School faculty.
  • Gather data for summer prep work; write contracts/plans for students with Academic Dean approval.
  • Create alternate schedules and class schedules for Grammar School.
  • Pursue opportunities for professional development in school administration and culture.

Job description

Paideia Academy is seeking qualified Grammar School Dean candidates. Qualified candidates would possess the qualities as described in the employment requirements and responsibilities in the following job description.

Employment Requirements:
  1. Exemplify and articulate a saving and growing relationship with Christ. Be a person of Christian love, faith, truthfulness, and virtue.
  2. Be active in a local Protestant Evangelical church, with a substantial record of service and leadership in the body of Christ.
  3. Demonstrate a willingness to be trained in classical Christian educational methods.
  4. Demonstrate a lifestyle in agreement with the Paideia Academy Vision, Philosophy, and Foundational Statements.
  5. Be passionate about educating children in a Christian environment, and about the grade/subject to be taught. Experience is preferred, but not required.
  6. Be willing to collaborate closely with parents in the education of their children.
  7. Be committed to academic excellence.
  8. Be committed to personal life-long learning.
  9. Possess a Master s degree (preferred).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain Student Culture:
  1. 1. Maintain student culture in keeping with all policies and official school-wide documents.
  2. 2. Encourage students regularly to walk in accordance with scripture and the school's policy.
  3. 3. Provide discipline directly or indirectly for students in Grammar School
  4. 4. Positively support students in their daily responsibilities
Maintain Faculty Culture:
  1. 5. Maintain faculty culture in keeping with all policies and official school-wide documents.
  2. 6. Encourage teachers regularly to walk in accordance with Scripture and the school's policies.
  3. 7. Positively support teachers in their daily responsibilities
Grammar School Faculty Advisor:
  1. 8. Council teachers with questions, frustrations, concerns, etc.
  2. 9. Observe teachers formally and provide written feedback each time.
  3. 10. Troubleshoot problems in and out of the classroom.
  4. 11. Assist teachers in understanding and implementing classical education.
Lead Primary and Lower School Department Meetings:
  1. 12. Plan and lead department meetings once per month pertaining to the general issues regarding the Grammar School.
  2. 13. Record notes and communicate to all Grammar School faculty, including music and art teachers.
Academic Integrity Plans:
  1. 14. Develop student Academic Integrity Plans for all students requiring such in the Grammar School with the assistance and approval of the Academic Dean
Communication:
  1. 15. Communicate with parents, teachers, students, and administration concerning behavior problems or other concerns in and out of the classroom.
  2. 16. Communicate directives from administration to Grammar School faculty.
Academic Preparedness Contracts:
  1. 17. Gather data from teachers regarding necessary summer preparation work for Grammar School
  2. 18. Write up contracts and plans for any current students in the Grammar School requiring them with the assistance and approval of the Academic Dean
Scheduling:
  1. 19. Create alternate schedules, ex. rehearsals or in-school activities, as it pertains to the Grammar School
  2. 20. Create class schedules for each grade/subject taught in the Grammar School.
Professional Development:
  1. 21. Pursue opportunities for professional development in school administration and pertaining to school culture, classical methods, and any other particular area which may benefit the faculty.
  2. 22. Complete the Administrator Professional Development worksheet.
Field Trips/Activities:
  1. 23. Oversee the organization of field trips and in-school activities specific to the Grammar School
