Job summary

Green Plains Inc. is seeking a plant operator to operate and maintain equipment for loading and unloading ethanol, distillers, and corn. You will weigh and grade raw materials and final products, ensure quality, and keep records accurate.

The role requires safe operation, upkeep of rolling stock, and coordination with maintenance and production teams to ensure timely shipments and compliance with USDA and state regulations. A strong work ethic and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent degree required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be hard-working and self-motivated.
• Ability to greet customers in a friendly manner.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to work with all levels of staff (co-workers and management).
• Excellent Microsoft Office software skills.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory state and USDA requirements.
• Previous experience in grain receiving and grading.
• Detail-oriented; proficiency for accuracy; dependable; positive attitude; team player.
• Ability to multi-task and take ownership of assigned projects.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience in industrial production plants helpful.
• Maintaining a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory requirements of FRA, TTB and state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure grain is of acceptable quality and meets specifications as outlined in the purchase contract.
• Timely loading/unloading of all ethanol, distiller's grains, and other products by railcar and truck.
• Proper completion of all records related to the products loaded for shipment from the plant site.
• Housekeeping and keeping areas pertaining to duties clean and organized.
• Keep current on the status of all operating equipment.
• Maintain rolling stock including loaders, track mobile, skid steer, and fuel loader by servicing.
• Inspect equipment for defects and document results.
• Work closely with maintenance and inform them of mechanical problems.
• Grease and check oil levels on equipment and document.
• Enter customer and product data into grain receiving software.
• Communicate with Production Department to ensure timely unloading of products.
• Maintain clean and presentable scales area and scale house.
• Assist with process chemical inventory tracking and ordering; coordinate with suppliers.
• Review chemical COAs against standards and communicate issues.
• Review, improve, and develop SOPs for safe operations and compliance.
• Participate in safety programs and ongoing training.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
