Job summary

US Tech Solutions in Ankeny, IA is seeking a Laboratory Technician to generate and evaluate lab-scale samples for customer programs, process and product research, and manufacturing support. The role requires 1–3 years of experience, a bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering field, and proficiency with analytical techniques such as GC, NIR, NMR, calorimetry, and LIMS.

This is a 6-month contract with 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering field with at least three years of related industry experience.
• Hands-on experience with ISO work instructions and sample prep.
• Experience with analytical techniques listed.

Job Description:

• Generate and/or evaluate lab-scale samples, testing for customer technical programs, process and product research programs and manufacturing support and provide relevant information for further decisions

Responsibilities:

• Receipt, identification, and preparation of samples - ensure incoming samples are labelled correctly, appropriate analytical have been requested, prep and analyze samples according to ISO work instructions.
• Prioritization of analyses according to customer needs matched to capacity; organization and coordination of projects in a high throughput lab environment; obtaining analytical data; ensuring data integrity; functioning in multi-discipline teams and delivering laboratory results in an efficient manner.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor.

Experience:

• 1-3 Years of Experience

Skillsets:

• Preferred candidate will have hands-on experience with total combustion analysis, elemental analysis, calorimetry, Gas Chromatography (GC), NIR Spectroscopy, NMR, total oil analysis, colorimetry, falling number, farinograph, mixograph, bench-top wet chemical analyses, LIMS and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Equivalent relevant experience will be considered

Education:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering field such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology or a related field with at least three years of related industry experience. Directly applicable experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirements..
