Job summary

Actalent, Inc. is seeking a Lab Analyst in Portland, OR for a permanent, onsite role with standard 9:00 am–5:30 pm hours. You will operate LC instrumentation and GC techniques, perform extractions, and generate data packages for pesticide panels, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.

Required: 3+ years in analytical chemistry, bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field, and proficiency with LC–MS, LC–MS/MS, and Lab software. Competitive benefits apply.

Job description

Operate LC instrumentation equipped with conventional, MS, and MS/MS detection, HR-MS/MS Orbitrap or TOF detectors. Provide analytical services and results accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner to clients. Analyze samples using LC and GC conventional, MS, MSMS and other detection techniques. Propose improvements, and stabilize analytical processes. Perform extractions and sample analysis as per documented methods and Standard Operating Procedures. Troubleshoot issues with analytical procedures and perform routine, and preventative maintenance, verification, and calibration of analytical instrumentation. Routinely analyze, which includes screening, quantitation, and reporting, of large-scale pesticide panels.

Essential Skills
  • Expertise in liquid chromatography, LC-MS, and mass spectrometry.
  • Proficiency with LC-MS/MS, tandem mass spectrometry, and selected ion monitoring.
  • Experience with multiple reaction monitoring and full scan techniques.
  • Familiarity with Agilent and Masshunter software.
  • Skills in maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instruments.
  • Proficiency in sample preparation, extraction, and bench chemistry techniques.
  • Knowledge of pH meters, centrifuges, balances, and pipettes.
  • Understanding of laboratory quality assurance, assay, and analytical chemistry.
  • Experience with toxicology and sample analysis.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Skills in chromatographic separation and knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science from a four-year college or university.
  • 3+ years of analytical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Liquid Chromatographic instrumentation.
  • Experience in data analysis and producing data packages for small and large datasets.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, develop, and optimize analytical and extraction methods.
  • Knowledge of software packages such as Analyst, Sciex OS, Multiquant, Tracefinder, Chromeleon, or equivalent.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment

The position is based in a fast-paced analytical laboratory. The work schedule is from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

This is a Permanent position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $57200.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
