Job description

Maplehurst Farms is looking for elevator operators to assist in the operations of grain elevators. This position is responsible for loading, unloading, transferring, and storing of grain in an efficient and safe manner. Additional responsibilities include servicing and maintaining facilities and equipment and performing necessary repairs. Safety is a priority! All tasks must be completed in a safe manner following established safety procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Grain Operations:

  • Assist in loading, unloading and transferring and storing of grain
  • Visually monitors grain and grain products for irregularities and takes proper action when discovered
  • Cleans and prepares storage facilities including but not limited to grain bins, flat storage and ground piles along with performing daily housekeeping to maintain the cleanliness and order of grain handling areas (tunnels, head house, dump bins, facility grounds, grass areas, etc.) as well as any area within the plant as directed.
  • Become knowledgeable of all grain storage locations and capacities of each
  • Understand proper measurement techniques and reporting of product levels and quality of grain in storage
  • Understand the proper operation of conveyance equipment that is utilized in the shipping, receiving and transferring of grain and grain products and the associated safety systems of that equipment
  • Provide a high level of customer service by displaying courteous, helpful, knowledgeable interaction and behaviors.
  • Operate and monitor dryer
  • Follow all OSHA rules and Safety regulations
Maintenance
  • Daily monitors grain handling equipment conditions and performs routine maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment
  • Maintains accurate written maintenance and repair orders for facilities and equipment
  • Maintains equipment lists to include equipment specifications, vendor information, drive unit specifications, and all pertinent information related to facilities and equipment
Requirements
  • Basic understanding of millwright, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems including the ability to use a wide range of power tools
  • Ability to operate various machinery such as skid loader, front end loader, forklift lawn mower, or other location specific equipment
  • Ability to climb heights of 200ft
  • Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, and pounding with hammer
  • Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, dusty conditions, extreme heights, or confined space for long periods of time
  • Able to work extended hours as needed, including weekends
  • A minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent
