Grain Etch Operator - 5th shift (Title: Grain Etch Operator)

Shift: 5th, 6pm-6am

Hours: Hourly

PCC is the market leader in manufacturing large, complex structural investment castings, airfoil castings, and forged components used in jet aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines. PCC Airfoils, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary that produces highly technical investment castings for turbine engine applications.

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to Dept. 650 Supervisor

Location: Mentor, OH

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience as an operator in a manufacturing environment. Previous casting experience is a plus.

Principal Area of Responsibility

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, the Grain Etch Operator etches castings, dips castings into caustic baths, fills and assists in the cleaning of caustic units, and performs miscellaneous tasks.

Specific Duties
  • Use a hoist to immerse castings, reverts metal or other materials into a series of acid and water baths, adhering to specified procedures, temperatures, and time cycles.
  • Remove castings from holders at completion of the process and set aside for removal.
  • Rinse castings regularly using air pressure and water.
  • Operate controls to regulate temperature of various baths and to adjust electric current used in the electrolytic process.
  • Load castings into containers and operate the hoist to convey containers into caustic baths while following procedure, temperature, and time cycle.
  • Remove containers from caustic baths and immerse them into water rinses for the proper length of time.
  • Use water pressure to rinse castings.
  • Fill caustic baths with caustic soda or other ingredients and assist in cleaning the baths when necessary.
  • Verify parts against paperwork.
  • Perform other duties in the department as assigned by supervision.
  • Keep the work area clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Follow safety practices and policies.
  • Handle any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
