Job summary

The State of Ohio, Ohio Department of Agriculture, Division of Plant Health, is seeking a Grain Examiner to be headquartered in one of several counties (Marion, Crawford, Hardin, Logan, Morrow, Seneca, Wyandot). The role involves examining records, conducting grain audits, and enforcing regulatory codes to protect Ohio’s agriculture.

Qualified candidates will have undergraduate coursework in agriculture and at least 1 year of relevant experience, plus a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Completion of undergraduate core coursework in agricultural field as described in the posting.
• 1 year of experience in agricultural field commensurate with duties.

Responsibilities

• Examine records of licensed facilities to ensure compliance with Ohio Revised Code 926.
• Generate computerized grain examinations using grain auditing software.
• Audits records and labels to ensure proper registration and compliance with codes.
• Inspect and sample grain and feed to determine labeling accuracy and quality.
• Attend hearings and act as expert witness when required.
• Operate state-owned vehicle to transport inspection and sampling equipment.
