Job summary

AgState is seeking an Operations Technician in Alta, IA to join a safety‑mocused team responsible for agronomy and grain operations. You will work under the Location Leader, perform loading, inventory, and maintenance tasks, and help ensure reliable, customer‑ready service to producers.

The role emphasizes hands‑on manual labor, working outdoors, and a stable career with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience and/or education preferred, but not required.
• Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL, Commercial applicator license and/or Handler’s license.
• Ability to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Support the elevator operations.
• Receive, dry, blend, and load grain.
• Measure grain inventory as needed.
• Prepare grain rail cars and load cars according to specifications as needed.
• Maintain grain conditions.
• Support all aspects of Agronomy Operations
• Manage ag chemicals and fertilizer.
• Understand chemical rates, uses, and restrictions.
• Operate Fertilizer mix plant – dry & liquid
• Manage chemical warehouse & lead agronomy inventory
• Abide by our values and practices by: Working in a safe & efficient manner
• Performing equipment and facility maintenance including housekeeping, daily maintenance checks, and basic maintenance as required
• Assisting other locations, as needed
• Other duties as assigned
