Job summary
Texas A&M International University in Laredo is seeking a Writing Consultant III to provide advanced one-on-one writing support for graduate students, manage a website with academic resources, and collect annual statistics for reporting.
Under general supervision, you will guide students through topic development, drafting and revising theses or dissertations, and offer feedback to strengthen writing and scholarly voice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Four years of related writing, editing or teaching experience with graduate students.
- Equivalent education/experience may be considered.
- Evening/weekend work may be required.
- On-campus, face-to-face interactions required.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced tutoring on writing, speaking and audio/video skills.
- Consult with classes/departments on writing or AV matters.
- Review and give feedback on graduate writing projects.
- Help students structure and develop ideas.
- Instruct on strategies to improve writing skills.
- Review papers and provide constructive feedback.
- Coach students to strengthen scholarly voice and confidence.
- Edit journal articles and theses.
- Provide feedback in individual appointments and small groups.
- Guide thesis work from topic to proposal and finalization.
- Assist with proper formatting and graduate compliance.
- Support graduate writing groups and programs.
