Job summary

GALLO is seeking a Master’s or PhD student to join our Winegrowing Chemistry Research department for a hands-on internship. You will apply analytical chemistry methods to grape and wine samples in an industrial setting, with opportunities to work with instruments such as HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, and ITC.

This six-month, onsite internship runs July–December 2027, requiring full-time availability, driving privileges, and willingness to travel to production sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program or has completed one of the eligible fields.
• Candidate must have strong analytical chemistry skills and experience with chromatographic techniques.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel to production sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate chemical characteristics of grapes throughout maturation.
• Implement rapid chemical methods to measure juice and wine attributes at the winery.
• Use analytical instruments to characterize grapes, fermentations, and wines.
• Model relationships between product chemistry and sensory attributes.
• Analyze data with computer software.
• Work in a production setting during harvest and travel to other sites if required.
• Set up laboratory, pilot scale, or production experiments.
