Job Title: Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN)

Location: Newcastle

Salary: £84 - £110 per day (Depending on Experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education offers an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN) to support students with diverse learning needs in primary and secondary schools across Newcastle. This role is ideal for those considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, or therapy.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN), you will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to support students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

Responsibilities of the Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN):
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEN.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering tailored lessons that meet individual learning needs.
  • Helping students develop confidence, independence, and key skills.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Monitoring progress and sharing feedback with teachers and parents.
  • Supporting students during breaks, lunchtime, and transitions.
Requirements of the Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN):
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in education or care.
  • A passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Understanding of autism, ADHD, and other SEN conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and follow guidance from teachers.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
