Summary of Job Duties

The Chemistry Department at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking a 9-month Graduate Teaching Assistant. The Graduate Teaching Assistant will be assigned to teach courses/laboratories in the Chemistry Program as a condition of your assistantship. The details of this task will be provided to you by the Chemistry Program. The remainder of your time is devoted to academics and your thesis/dissertation research. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from an accredited institution of higher education;
  • Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students;
  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Tutoring undergraduate students;
  • Run, manage, and teach undergraduate freshman, analytical, organic or other labs as assigned Grading of the lab reports, quizzes, and exams as assigned;
  • Prepare lab reagents and maintain safety protocols during the lab and after;
  • Manage lab waste and cleanliness of the lab;
  • Proctoring exams or quizzes.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Chemistry major with GPA at least 3.5 (4.0 scale);
  • Coursework of the four sub-disciplines of chemistry (Analytical, Physical, Inorganic, and Organic);
  • Proof of English proficiency.
