Job summary

The University of Utah seeks a Graduate Student Coordinator to support graduate programs in Salt Lake City. You will coordinate degree planning, track progress, and assist with scheduling and admissions processes to foster student success.

With a strong emphasis on collaboration and communication, you will work with faculty, staff, and students to promote inclusive practices and smooth program operations, including occasional remote work after training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalency; 2 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
• Ability to perform essential functions as outlined in the position description.

Responsibilities

• Support graduate students with record-keeping, program of study coordination, scheduling and graduation tracking.
• Participate in campus professional development communities and sub-committees as applicable.
• Disseminate information to students, faculty and departments about degree requirements or policy changes and adjust advising strategies accordingly.
• May participate in search committees for new staff or faculty positions in the department.
• Coordinate programming for graduate student activities, mentoring programs and student organizations.
• Advise on graduate committee development and assign coursework for programs of study.
• Provide program-level curriculum feedback and submit changes to university tracking systems.
• Act as power user for admission portfolios and coordinating graduate committee reviews.
• Participate in recruitment activities for potential graduate students and coordinate interview processes.
• Coordinate scheduling of exams and defenses with faculty and assist students in building relationships with faculty.
• Participate in events management for graduate programs, orientation, conferences and development events.
• Serve as a liaison between the department and the Graduate School on campus.
