Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks highly motivated engineers, physicists, mathematicians and computer scientists to advance sensor algorithms for defense. You will develop large-scale simulations of electromagnetic fields, optimize complex algorithms, and prototype signal processing methods for military deployment, using ML on big datasets.

You’ll collaborate across disciplines, engage with security-cleared workstreams, and contribute to cutting-edge defense technology

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in listed engineering/CS disciplines.
  • Strong problem solving/analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from varied subject areas and experience levels.
  • Eligibility for Interim Secret clearance by start date; ultimately Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop large scale simulations of electromagnetic fields and radar systems.
  • Optimize algorithms to run on multi-million-dollar computational clusters.
  • Prototype novel signal processing algorithms to be deployed by our military.
  • Use machine learning techniques to augment current and future capabilities.
  • Gain a deep understanding of electromagnetic phenomena to see how they can be used and exploited.
  • Apply data science and machine learning to complex, large-scale datasets.
