Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in the Baltimore-Washington metro area seeks a research biological scientist to contribute to a variety of projects that understand and mitigate biological threats in field-forward and clinical settings.

You will collaborate with government, academia, and industry across teams, write reports, publish results, and help advance detection, surveillance, and modeling efforts, with opportunities to grow technical skills and contribute to national

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology or related fields.
• Willing and able to work in Biosafety level 2 laboratories.
• Experience with general laboratory equipment and methods.
• Experience with eukaryotic tissue culture and/or microbial culture.
• Experience analyzing biological data and communicating technical concepts.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Secret level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a variety of research, development, and characterization projects to understand and mitigate biological threats.
• Write technical reports and publications; publish/present results to the scientific community.
• Communicate findings across teams and externally to the broader research community.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary efforts using advanced methods and technologies to advance mitigation strategies.
