Job summary

Arup is seeking a Graduate Power Systems Electrical Engineer in New York, available from 2027. The role focuses on design, analysis, and simulation of electrical power systems including solar, wind, battery storage, and substation work.

You will perform various power system studies and assist with documentation and data management. You will learn and contribute to grounding, short circuit, load flow, and arc flash calculations while gaining exposure to transmission and distribution design and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with focus on Power Systems and basic knowledge of power systems.
• Familiarity with PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, SKM or similar is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD will be a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for teamwork.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage evolving tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, analysis, and simulation of electrical power systems, including renewables.
• Perform power system studies such as short circuit, cable ampacity, Arc flash, Load flow and energy yield.
• Design solar facilities, substations and BESS under senior guidance.
• Perform grounding, short circuit, cable ampacity, load flow, Arc Flash and voltage drop calculations.
• Learn sizing of DC/AC cables and layout for Solar and substation design.
• Learn transmission and distribution line design and tools like PLS-CADD.
• Document and organize project data and results.
• Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and renewable energy developments.
