Job summary

Arup in Chicago is seeking a Graduate Plumbing Engineer to design plumbing and fire protection systems with a strong emphasis on sustainability. You will support domestic water, sanitary/vent, and storm systems while documenting engineering analyses and Revit MEP designs.

Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop integrated solutions for complex buildings. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, architectural, civil, or environmental engineering.
• Coursework in fluid hydraulics/piping/fluid dynamics.
• Interest in the built environment and sustainable development.
• Ability to collaborate with clients.
• Good time management habits and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas clearly.
• Initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, creativity.

Responsibilities

• Design Plumbing and Fire Protection systems with emphasis on sustainable design.
• Support design of domestic water, sanitary/vent, and storm systems.
• Support fire protection systems (sprinklers and standpipes).
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants for integrated solutions.
• Document engineering analysis work including code research, load calculations, sizing, and assumptions.
• Document system design in Revit MEP.
• Convey technical ideas to diverse audiences via presentations/workshops.
• Write reports detailing calculation methods, results, and design assumptions.
• Prioritize tasks and stay organized in a changing environment.
• Assist in construction administration such as site visits and submittal reviews.
