Qualifications

  • Bachelors in transportation, urban planning, civil engineering, or related field; Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of applicable experience (internship or professional).
  • AICP certification required or obtainable within 6 months.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Office environment with standard equipment; travel may be required.

Graduate Planner, Transportation Planning

As a Transportation Planner you will support development and implementation of transportation projects by conducting technical analyses, preparing reports, and assisting with public outreach and grant writing. What you will do:
  • Participate in transportation planning, environmental documentation, public outreach, and grant writing projects.
  • Typical projects include long-range transportation plans, corridor studies, sub-area plans, pedestrian and bicycle plans, federal environmental documents, and grant applications.

  • Support senior staff as directed on project tasks.
  • Apply transportation methods, planning principles, and standard industry evaluations and analyses with input and guidance from senior staff.
  • Communicate ideas clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • May remain in stationary position for extended periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
  • Bachelors degree in transportation, urban planning, civil engineering, or related field from an accredited program, or a Masters degree in a similar field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of applicable experience, including previous experience as an intern or in a professional capacity.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification required (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Microsoft Suite Products (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc).
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment.
  • Travel or field visits may be required to support project needs or stakeholder collaboration.
