Job summary

University of Saint Joseph invites qualified applicants to serve as adjunct faculty within the Nursing Department for the Summer and Fall 2027 semesters. Courses are delivered asynchronously with online sessions and a monthly in-person meeting for clinicals, offering flexibility and meaningful faculty-student engagement.

Responsibilities include teaching 2–6 credits, timely grading, and maintaining available office hours.

Qualifications

• Earned master's degree in nursing is required.
• Licensed or eligible for license by the state of Connecticut as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
• A minimum of two years of experience practicing in the role of a nurse practitioner.
• Prior teaching experience strongly preferred.
• Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population.
• Commitment to the mission of the University of Saint Joseph.
• Physical ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Teach 2-6 credits designated as contact time with the students.
• Grade all student assignments in a timely manner with feedback.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours; be available an additional hour per week to support students.
• Demonstrate knowledge of current methods and practices for teaching college-level courses.
• Learn and utilize technology offered at USJ to facilitate teaching.
• Meet all designated class periods as per the academic calendar.
• Submit mid-semester and final grades to the Registrar on time.
• Provide a supportive atmosphere for student success.
