Black & Veatch Corporation seeks an entry‑level Mechanical Engineer to contribute to advanced power generation projects, designing mechanical equipment and systems in our facilities. You will grow through diverse, impactful work and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver solutions that meet client goals.

Based in locations like Overland Park or Cary, the role offers hybrid work options after 90 days and opportunities for hands‑on experience across projects and disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Pre-employment background check, drug screen and motor vehicle records search may be required.
• Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days, depending on performance and assignments.
• Basic knowledge of design guides and standards related to the engineering discipline is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures.
• Equipment sizing and performance calculations
• Development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
• Develops an understanding and complies with the Black and Veatch quality program.
• Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope
• Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis
• Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements
• Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers
