Job summary

Hoare Lea is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join a leading UK building services consultancy. You will be exposed to a broad range of projects from day one, including healthcare, hotels, and large-scale redevelopment schemes, gaining hands-on experience across design and site activities.

The role emphasizes collaboration, technical development and progression toward Chartered status, with access to state-of-the-art software and a mentor. A flexible, hybrid working model is offered.

Qualifications

• 2:1 Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification (IMechE/CIBSE accredited preferred).
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
• Friendly, ambitious and confident with a flexible and resilient approach.
• Masters or other postgraduate qualification is advantageous (not required).
• Experience with CAD or similar modelling software is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Work on live projects from day one across healthcare, hotels, retail and residential sectors.
• Produce detailed designs and drawings for HVAC, drainage, and water services to standard, budget and deadlines.
• Use CAD and Revit for modelling and documentation.
• Undertake site surveys and research new technologies.
• Engage in continuous CPD and learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients and end users through regular meetings.

The Role Being part of one of the UK's largest building engineering consultancies, we benefit from collaborating with some of the best engineers in the business, with access to state-of-the-art technical support, and have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most high-profile projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Bispebjerg Hospital in Denmark, Canolfan Pentre Awel in Carmarthen, One Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, Multi-Megawatt Data Centre Campus, the vast £1 billion Elephant and Castle redevelopment in London, are examples of some of the amazing projects where we have led the design with other Hoare Lea disciplines. As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, your day-to-day tasks will vary, as we'll expose you to all aspects of our work so you can discover what suits you.

You could be;

• Working on live projects from day one - our exciting projects
• In a variety of sectors from healthcare to hotels, retail to residential
• Producing detailed designs and drawings for work including but not limited to; + Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Control Systems + Above and below ground drainage systems and hot and cold-water services to standard, budget and deadline.
• Using the latest computer modelling software CAD and Revit
• Undertaking site surveys
• Researching ground-breaking technologies
• Continuous CPD and learning opportunities

Communicating will span all of these, as we regularly liaise with project teams, meet clients or end users, and attend collaborative meetings.

To be successful in this role, you'll need…

• An expected or achieved 2.1 or above IMechE or CIBSE accredited degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently
• A friendly, ambitious and confident individual with a flexible and resilient approach

It would be an advantage, but not necessary, if you also had…

• A Masters or other relevant post graduate qualification
• Previous placement or work experience in a similar industry
• An understanding of CAD or similar modelling software
