Job summary

Hoare Lea, a leading building engineering consultancy, invites applications for a Graduate Electrical Engineer. You will work across healthcare, hospitality, residential and more, contributing to live projects from day one and learning through a structured career path.

You will design electrical systems, create drawings, and use modern tools like Revit, Dialux/Relux and Electrical OM. CPD, mentoring and a path to Chartership are provided for development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 2.1 or higher from an IET/CIBSE-accredited program.
• Strong communications, analytical and organisational abilities.
• Able to work in a team and also independently.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to live projects across diverse sectors from day one.
• Produce detailed electrical designs, drawings, circuits, wiring and lighting.
• Utilise Revit, Dialux/Relux and Electrical OM for modelling.
• Undertake site surveys and research new technologies.
• Engage in continuous CPD and professional development.

The Role

Being part of one of the UK's largest building engineering consultancies, we benefit from collaborating with some of the best engineers in the business, with access to state-of-the-art technical support, and have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most high‑profile projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Bispebjerg Hospital in Denmark, Canolfan Pentre Awel in Carmarthen, One Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, Multi‑Megawatt Data Centre Campus, the vast £1 billion Elephant and Castle redevelopment in London, are examples of some of the amazing projects where we have led the design with other Hoare Lea disciplines.

As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, your day‑to‑day tasks will vary, as we'll expose you to all aspects of our work so you can discover what suits you. You could be;

• Working on live projects from day one — our exciting projects
• In a variety of sectors from healthcare to hotels, retail to residential
• Producing detailed designs and drawings for work including but not limited to;
  • Electrical circuits, wiring, and lighting
• Using the latest computer modelling software Revit, Dialux, Relux, and Electrical OM.
• Undertaking site surveys
• Researching ground‑breaking technologies
• Continuous CPD and learning opportunities

Communicating will span all of these, as we regularly liaise with project teams, meet clients or end‑users, and attend collaborative meetings.

To be successful in this role, you'll need…

• An expected or achieved 2.1 or above in an IET or CIBSE accredited degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently
• A friendly, ambitious and confident individual with a flexible and resilient approach

It would be an advantage, but not necessary, if you also had…

• A Masters or other relevant post graduate qualification
• Previous placement or work experience in a similar industry
• An understanding of CAD or similar modelling software
