Job summary

Avila University in Kansas City, MO seeks a Graduate Assistant for the Hooley-Bundschu Library and Learning Commons to staff the circulation desk and support lending operations. You will check materials in/out, reshelve items, and connect users with resources, while providing basic research help and assisting with Interlibrary Loan tasks.

Preferred candidates are enrolled graduate students with strong customer service, communication, organization, and teamwork skills, and familiarity with MS

Qualifications

• Must be admitted and enrolled as a graduate student at Avila University.
• Availability to work a consistent daytime schedule on weekdays preferred.
• Excellent customer service and strong communication skills.
• Ability to organize, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or with others.
• Familiarity with computers and Microsoft Office Suite; Dewey Decimal basics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Staff the library circulation desk and perform lending tasks.
• Check materials in/out, reshelve, shelf read, and inventory with accuracy.
• Answer questions and direct users to library resources and departments.
• Provide basic research assistance and locate print/online resources.
• Maintain Interlibrary Loan program and assist with library projects.
• Oversee routine operations during shifts when staff are unavailable.
• Assist with tracking work hours and mentor other student employees.
