Highmark Health in the United States is offering a Summer 2027 Data Science Research & Development Graduate Internship. This program allows graduate students to apply advanced data science, ML, AI, and software engineering techniques to solve clinical and healthcare challenges.

You will work with researchers, data scientists, ML engineers, and developers across four tracks: Knowledge Graphs, Medical Imaging, Predictive Modeling, and AI Applications, gaining hands‑on experience in healthcare data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; pursuing a graduate degree is expected.
• Pursuit of a Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant quantitative field is preferred.
• Strong programming in Python is essential.
• Experience with modern data science libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, ML engineers, and software developers on high‑impact healthcare data projects.
• Apply advanced data science, ML, AI, and software engineering techniques to clinical and healthcare insurance data.
• Contribute to research initiatives involving knowledge graphs, medical imaging, predictive modeling, and AI applications.
• Design and evaluate analytical solutions, conduct model evaluation and experimentation, and communicate findings.
• Assist with project planning, implementation, and documentation within assigned research tracks.
• Participate in mentorship, teamwork, and applied research activities supporting healthcare transformation.
• Adhere to HIPAA, privacy policies, and company code of conduct during all duties.
