Job summary

SOCOTEC has an immediate opening for a Graduate (Staff) Geotechnical Engineer in Houston, Texas. You will coordinate subsurface evaluations, log borings, supervise drill crews, and assist with geotechnical reports as part of a growing specialty engineering team.

Ideal candidates have a B.S. in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, an MS preferred, and 0–2 years of geotechnical consulting experience. This in-office role includes benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Entry-level to 2 years geotechnical consulting experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical principles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule geotechnical subsurface evaluations.
• Perform boring mark-outs for utility clearance and supervise drill rigs.
• Classify soils and log borings, test pits, and cores.
• Document distressed structures and conduct floor level surveys.
• Assign laboratory testing and assist with geotechnical report preparation.
• Compile laboratory data and perform geotechnical analyses.
• Conduct calculations for foundations, slope stability, and settlement.
