Ideal candidates hold a B.S. in geotechnical fields, with 0–2 years of experience, strong communication, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Education: B.S. in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering required.
• MS in Geotechnical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Entry-level to 2 years geotechnical consulting experience preferred.
• Strong soil mechanics understanding and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule geotechnical subsurface evaluations.
• Perform boring mark-outs for utility clearance and supervise drill crews.
• Classify soils and log borings, test pits, and cores.
• Conduct floor level surveys and document distressed structures.
• Assign laboratory testing and assist with geotechnical report prep.
• Compile laboratory test data and perform analyses.
• Calculate shallow/deep foundations, slope stability, and settlement.

Job Description

SOCOTEC has an immediate opening for a Graduate (Staff) Geotechnical Engineer in Houston, Texas.

• Coordinate and schedule geotechnical subsurface evaluations
