SOCOTEC US in Houston, TX has an immediate opening for a Graduate (Staff) Geotechnical Engineer. You will coordinate subsurface evaluations, supervise drill crews, classify soils, and assist with reports, working in-office in a collaborative team. A B.S.

in civil/geotechnical engineering is required, with 0–2 years' geotechnical experience preferred. The role emphasizes strong communication, independent work ethic, and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering is required.
• MS in Geotechnical Engineering or related field is preferred.
• Entry-level to 2 years geotechnical consulting experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule geotechnical subsurface evaluations.
• Perform boring mark-outs for utility clearance and supervise drill rig crews.
• Classify soils and log borings, test pits, and cores.
• Conduct floor level surveys and document distressed structures.
• Assign laboratory testing and assist with geotechnical report preparation.
• Compile laboratory test data and perform geotechnical analyses.
• Conduct calculations for foundations, slope stability, and settlement.

Qualifications

Education

• B.S. in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering (required)
• M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or related field (preferred)

Required Skills

• Entry-level to up to 2 years of geotechnical consulting experience (preferred)
• Understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and good organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
