Job summary

Arup in San Francisco is seeking a Graduate Fire Engineer to join our early careers program. You will support life-safety consulting for building projects, contribute to fire code compliance strategies, and assist senior engineers in design review and documentation.

You'll develop fire protection designs, participate in client meetings, and learn across multi-disciplinary teams while growing your professional skills in a global engineering practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple tasks.

The opportunity

• Provide consulting for life safety, building, and fire code compliance
• Contribute to the development of prescriptive and performance-based design strategies.
• Assist senior engineers to help clients to incorporate fire and life safety strategy concepts into the designand review drawings for conformance with the agreed strategy
• Assist with development of fire alarm, detection, and fire suppression systems design documents
• Assist senior engineers on project site visits and communicate with architects, contractors and consulting teams
• Participate in internal team meetings and external client meetings
• Adapt to working with multiple teams, across multiple offices in a multi-discipline environment
• Perform smoke control analysis
• Assist with fire modeling
• Assist with dynamic egress modeling
• Assist with the development of structural fire calculations
• Assist with the development of fire safety strategies for special hazards

Los Angeles Hiring Range – Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Los Angeles is $76,500 to $83,500 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Los Angeles will differ.

San Francisco Hiring Range – Hiring Range- The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in San Francisco is $79,500 to $86,500 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of San Francisco will differ.
