Job summary

Arup in New York seeks an Early Careers professional in fire protection engineering to support life safety and fire code compliance consulting. You will aid senior engineers in applying fire safety strategies, contribute to design documentation, and engage with architects and clients across multi-disciplinary teams.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in fire protection or related engineering fields, with strong communication and organizational skills and a proactive learning mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide consulting for life safety, building, and fire code compliance.

• Assist with development of fire alarm, detection, and fire suppression design documents.
• Support senior engineers on project site visits and communication with architects, contractors and teams.

The Opportunity

• Provide consulting for life safety, building, and fire code compliance
• Contribute to the development of prescriptive and performance-based design strategies.
• Assistsenior engineers to help clients to incorporate fire and life safety strategy concepts into the designand review drawings for conformance with the agreed strategy
• Assistwith development of fire alarm, detection, and fire suppression systems design documents
• Assistsenior engineers on project site visits and communicate with architects,contractorsand consulting teams
• Participate in internal team meetings and external client meetings
• Adapt to working with multiple teams, across multiple offices in a multi-discipline environment
• Perform smoke control analysis
• Assistwith fire modeling
• Assistwith dynamic egress modeling
• Assistwith the development of structural fire calculations
• Assistswith the development of fire safety strategies for special hazards

New York Hiring Range – Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York is $24.50 to $47.50 per hour. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Boston will differ
