Job summary

Arup in Boston is seeking a Graduate Facades Engineer to help shape building envelopes. You will sketch concepts, develop 3D models, and support architects and engineers in detailing facade systems.

You will perform structural, thermal and solar modeling, use CAD/graphics tools, review shop drawings, and prepare reports. Recent graduates with a building science background are invited to apply; fluency in visual communication is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or building science.
• Core interest in façade industry with detailing and engineering focus.
• Good sketching ability and the ability to communicate ideas visually.

Responsibilities

• Structure façade concepts using sketches, reports, and analyses for Architects and Clients.
• Engage with architects/engineers on 3D modelling of complex facades.
• Model structural, thermal, and solar aspects of enclosure details.
• Use advanced analysis methods to understand façade physics and design.
• Produce 2D/3D drawings and details with CAD/graphics tools.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for performance criteria.
• Interpret specs and write condition summaries.
• Perform mock-ups, factory, and field inspections when needed.
