Job summary

GHD is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental group in Atlanta. You will engage in wetlands delineations/assessments, permit work, and ecological studies as part of a hybrid work model with three days in the office per week.

The role involves field surveys for flora and fauna, sampling of water quality and sediments, and evaluating chemical/biological data. A Bachelors or Masters in Environmental Science or related field, plus 0–2 years of relevant experience, is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Biology, Ecology or related field of study
  • 0-2 years of experience conducting wetland delineations and ecological field studies
  • Proficiency with managing and evaluating chemical and biological data using spreadsheets or database software
  • Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS) applications software
  • Must be physically able to conduct strenuous field studies and willing to travel to job sites

Who are we looking for?

Our Environmental group is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join their team! As a graduate with this group, you will be engaged with projects that involve wetland delineations/assessments & permitting, endangered species surveys, water quality assessments, and ecological & environmental studies. These projects support ecological risk assessments, site characterization and remedial action projects on contaminated sites. Be part of the dynamic culture! Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Wetland delineation
  • Field surveys for rare, threatened or endangered flora and fauna and their habitats
  • Ecological assessments to classify and map habitat cover types and plant communities
  • Surface water quality monitoring and sampling
  • Sediment sampling
  • Macroinverterate surveys / sampling
  • Fish, reptile and amphibian surveys
  • Managing and evaluating chemical and biological data
  • Evaluating and understanding environmental regulations
  • Preparing work plans, reports and other written communications
What you will bring to the Team:
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Biology, Ecology or related field of study
  • 0-2 years of experience conducting wetland delineations and ecological field studies
  • Proficiency with managing and evaluating chemical and biological data using spreadsheets or database software
  • Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS) applications software
  • Must be physically able to conduct strenuous field studies under field conditions that coincide with survey requirements
  • Able and willing to travel to job sites as necessary
