Job summary

Austin Water, a department of the City of Austin, is seeking a Graduate Engineer A to support wastewater systems planning. Under supervision, you will perform routine design tasks, prepare design criteria, and assist in budgets and schedules for infrastructure projects.

The role emphasizes hydraulic modeling, GIS analysis, and coordination with engineers, contractors, and public agencies to ensure compliant, effective infrastructure planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
• Experience with wastewater collection systems and water distribution analysis preferred.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and maintenance of design drawings and plans under professional supervision.
• Coordinate with engineers, agencies, contractors, and the public to exchange information and respond to questions.
• Prepare preliminary, periodic and final estimates of quantities, materials, and labor for budgets and payments.
• Conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Develop technical reports, correspondence, and official documents.
