Job summary

Emerson Electric in Honolulu, HI, seeks an experienced Lead Engineer for EEEC II projects focused on process control and automation. You will lead project execution, interface with customers, and ensure quality across design, software, and hardware aspects.

Responsibilities include defining system architecture for ICSS, IO assignments, third-party interfaces (Modbus/Profibus/OPC), BOM review, and test plans, plus on-site startup and commissioning support as required.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience in process control and automation.
  • DCS/SIS design experience in the engineering industry is desired.
  • Experience with Oil & Gas, refineries, chemical, petrochemical DCS/SIS design and engineering projects is preferred.

  • Support Project Manager on scope review, kickoff, resource planning, and scheduling.

  • Define software/hardware concepts and third-party interfaces; develop SW libraries and project-specific tests.
  • Review BOMs, documentation, FAT/ SAT plans, and lead commissioning support at site.

Job description

Job Summary

Facilitates the EEEC II’s interests and activities for process system and solution projects. The position is responsible for project activities, including, but not limited to, Lead Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Follow Emerson’s project execution life cycle and maintain all documentation including technical and quality documents.
  • Act as Lead for the project.
  • Act as primary interface with the customer for the entire scope of the project.
  • Support Project Manager for all technical aspects of the project and various activities such as scope review, kick‑off meeting, resource planning, engineering planning, procurement support, schedule planning, quality control, monitoring and controlling of project, customer handling, risk monitoring and control, change management, performance reporting, progress reporting, and project close‑out.
  • Analyze customer inputs and understand requirements such as Design Specifications, P&IDs, Control Narratives, IO list, Instrument Index, Operating Philosophies, etc.
  • Raise technical queries.
  • Handle team of SW/HW Engineers working on the project.
  • Verify compliance to project’s requirements.
  • Develop System Design.
  • Develop/review System Architecture for the entire ICSS (Integrated Control & Safety System).
  • Perform I/O to Controller Assignment.
  • Define Software Concepts.
  • Define Hardware Concepts.
  • Define third‑party interfaces (Modbus, Profibus, OPC, etc.).
  • Develop SW library (logic as well as graphics).
  • Develop project‑specific SW typicals.
  • Perform SW typical tests.
  • Design and develop I/O and base control modules.
  • Develop customized logic, complex logic, and graphics.
  • Develop third‑party interface database/modules.
  • Review BOM for entire system.
  • Review all documentation of the project, including SW/HW/Project Management related to technical aspects.
  • Develop internal test plan, cabinet build, internal testing, third‑party interface testing, SW FAT plan, HW FAT plan, HW‑SW integration plan, integrated testing between SW & HW, FAT with customer, As‑Built documentation, SAT plan, SAT at customer location, loop checks at site, startup and commissioning support, and handle change management.
  • Implementation of EEEC IMS processes/documentation as & when required throughout the project.
  • Adopt WA quality requirements and customer’s regulatory guidelines.
  • Promote a first‑time‑right approach.
  • Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
Other Duties

Perform other additional specific duties, when requested by the business, typically strategic in nature but could vary depending on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience in process control and automation.
  • DCS/SIS design experience in the engineering industry is desired.
  • Experience with Oil & Gas, refineries, chemical, petrochemical DCS/SIS design and engineering projects is preferred.
