Job summary

Ben Aris LLC is seeking an I&E Project Engineer to support EI&C engineering across an EPC project from development to commissioning. You will assist in scheduling, controls, procurement, and field construction activities with a U.S. company that has global operations.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field and hands-on experience with SIS, DCS, BMS, and PLC systems. Candidates must be US citizens or green card holders; sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience delivering EPC projects.
• Experience with Safety Instrumented System (SIS), DCS, BMS, and PLC.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering activities including scheduling, project controls, procurement, and construction.
• Assist in designing and overseeing DCS, SIS, and PLC systems.
• Develop instrument indices, I/O lists, electrical equipment specs, and controls specs.
• Create and review one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Review AC power systems, short circuit, and arc flash studies.
• Prepare hazardous area classifications and specify rated equipment.
• Contribute to process control philosophy and PCS architecture.
• Develop logic diagrams, cause & effects, and control narratives.
• Design grounding, grounding grids, buildings, layouts, and lighting; perform basic calculations.
• Participate in developing P&IDs, equipment, and instrument procurement packages.
• Coordinate design activities with Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural disciplines.
• Attend workshops on risk, PHA/HAZID/HAZOP, safety in design, operability, and constructability.
• Develop I&E subcontractor scope of work and oversee performance.
• Provide SME input to resolve engineering, design, and construction issues.
• Interface with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
• Provide short-term field support during construction and commissioning.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests for electrical and controls equipment.

Job description

As the I&E Project Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and actively participating in the EI&C engineering facets of an EPC project from early development phase to commissioning and turnover, for a U.S. company with global operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the execution of engineering activities including scheduling, project controls, procurement, and construction.
• Support in the specification and oversee the design of DCS, SIS, and PLC Systems.
• Support the development of the Instrument Index, I/O List, electrical equipment and controls specifications of process related facilities and other electrical systems.
• Support the development of one-line, schematics diagrams, wiring diagrams.
• Review of AC power systems, short circuit, and arc flash studies.
• Create hazardous area classification drawings and specify appropriately rated equipment.
• Support the development of the process control philosophy and PCS architecture.
• Support the development of logic diagram, cause & effects, control narratives and control system.
• Design grounding, ground grid, control buildings, plant layouts, lighting, and perform basic calculation.
• Participate in development of P&IDs, equipment, and instrument procurement packages.
• Participate in coordination of design activities with other disciplines (Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, etc.).
• Participate in workshops and meetings, including risk, value, PHA/HAZID/HAZOP, safety in design, operability/maintainability, and constructability.
• Support the develop I&E subcontractor scope of work and manage their expeditious execution throughout the project.
• Provide input and assistance on best practices, work procedures, and subject matter expertise to team members as required to resolve engineering, design, and construction issues.
• Interact and communicate effectively with internal clients, external clients, subcontractors, vendors and other consultants.
• Provide short term field support during construction and commissioning.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests for various electrical and controls equipment.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• B.S. Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering discipline.
• Experience executing on EPC projects.
• Experience with Safety Instrumented System (SIS), DCS, BMS, and PLC.
