Job summary

Arup seeks a Graduate Electrical Engineer for 2027, based in Chicago. You’ll design power distribution, lighting, and grounding for buildings and infrastructure, perform short circuit studies, and support lighting calculations using AGI.

Collaboration with architects and other disciplines will strengthen your practical understanding of building power systems. The role requires a BSEE or related degree, with preference for EIT/FE and sustainability interest.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering or related field with emphasis on power systems.
• Shows interest in electrical engineering for buildings and infrastructure.
• Internship or project experience in building electrical power systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding for buildings and infrastructure projects.
• Perform short circuit, overcurrent coordination, load and arc flash studies.
• Conduct lighting photometric calculations using AGI.
• Assign circuitry for Power and Lighting devices and draft technical reports.
• Work with Revit MEP and SKM on project tasks.
• Develop reports and electrical calculations; coordinate with other disciplines.

The opportunity

• Design power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding with respect tobuiltingsand infrastructure projects
• Short circuit, overcurrent coordination,loadand arc flash studies

• Work on projects using Revit MEPand SKM
• Contribute to the development of reports and electrical calculations

Is this role right for you?

• EIT/ FE certification preferred
• Coursework in building systems design, electrical power systems design, control systems, electric machines, and codes and standards preferred
• Internship experience in a consulting firm with emphasis on buildings electrical power system design preferred
• Demonstrated interest in sustainability asevidencedby extracurricular activities,etcpreferred
• Academic research, coursework, or other experience with alternative energy systems and other technologies new to the construction industrypreferred
• Experience with Revit MEP, AGI 32, SKM Power Toolspreferred
• Experience with automation or machine learningpreferred
• Proven ability to perform in a deadline situation preferred
• Evidence of teamwork and leadership such as professional accomplishment or honor society preferred

• Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future
• No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role

Chicago Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Chicago is $73,500 to $80,500 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Chicago will differ.
