Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the Southeast region. This position offers exposure to design, analysis, and project coordination across multi-disciplinary teams.

You will learn to apply design guides, standards, and client requirements while contributing to project schedules, cost estimates, and deliverables. Hybrid work options may be available after onboarding.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Onboarding may include background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
• December 2026 graduates to start in Q1 preferred.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and policies.
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary project teams to support design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Participates in project coordination meetings and works with project teams to resolve design challenges and incorporate client requirements.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
• Assists with development of project schedules, cost estimates, and engineering deliverables to support successful project execution.
• Focuses on the needs of internal clients while gaining basic understanding of external client interests and drivers.
• Develops and applies knowledge of engineering software, design tools, and digital delivery methods.
