Job summary

Pennoni’s Newark, DE office is seeking passionate Graduate Bridge Engineers to join our collaborative team on a full-time basis. You will assist with bridge design and inspection, and perform load rating tasks for transportation improvement projects across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree (MS preferred) with 0–3 years of related experience and familiarity with MicroStation or AutoCAD. Knowledge of SHM systems and plan production is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; MS degree is a plus.
• 0–3 years related experience in civil/structural engineering.
• MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience required or preferred.
• Bridge design and/or inspection experience; experience with structural design calculations a plus.
• Bluebeam PDF editor experience is a plus.
• Experience with plan production and assembly is a plus.

Pennoni Is Hiring! Pennoni Is Looking For Passionate Graduate Bridge Engineers To Join Our Collaborative, Fun Team On a Full Time, Direct Basis In Pennoni’s Transportation Design Hub Located In Our Newark, DE Office With Experience Consistent, But Not Limited To

• Assisting with bridge design, bridge inspection
• Load rating tasks associated with transportation improvement projects, bridge replacement/rehabilitation projects, NBIS bridge safety inspections, locally administered transportation projects, highway, and bridges projects for a variety of clients
  • Including: PennDOT, DRPA, DelDOT, SEPTA, MDOT SHA, MDTA and DCDOT, local municipalities and agencies in the Mid-Atlantic Region
• Having a firm grasp of undergraduate level structural concepts (beam analysis, steel and concrete design, statistical analysis)
• Ability to learn new concepts and systems (electrical system design, sensor specifications, SHM system design)
• An understanding AASHTO design standards, substructure and superstructure quantity calculations, cost estimations, and plan creation is beneficial but not required
• May be working with a team of engineers to design and install structural health monitoring (SHM) systems
• Conducting structural load testing and load rating
• Evaluating structural performance and conducting bridge inspection to identify optimal actions supporting structure maintenance, refurbishment, and rehabilitation

Required Attributes

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Focus on Structural Engineering) - MS Degree is a plus
• 0 to 3 years related experience
• MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Experience
