Qualifications

  • Knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, as well as across academic and administrative departments.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Follows NCAA regulations regarding athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit men’s lacrosse student-athletes and assist with admissions coordination.
  • Assist with coaching, facility management, and team operations.
  • Support fundraising through camps and clinics.
  • Maintain uniforms and equipment inventory.
  • Support study table coverage for student-athletes.
  • Promote inclusive education and NCAA compliance.
  • Represent the college positively as an athletics ambassador.
  • Ensure NCAA DII experience adherence.

Job description

Graduate Assistant, Men’s Lacrosse

Location: Painesville, OH 44077

Status: Part‑time, 10 months / 2 years

Reports To: Supervisor

Lake Erie College is a small, co‑educational, four‑year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland. It is an NCAA Division II program competing in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). The Graduate Assistant, Men’s Lacrosse assists the Head Coach with program duties and manages a secondary responsibility as defined.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as recruiter for men’s lacrosse, identifying and evaluating potential student athletes and organizing recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admissions.
  • Assists with organization of all aspects of the program, including coaching and management of facility, practice, and team operations.
  • Helps execute team fundraising efforts, including participation in camps and clinics.
  • Handles uniform and equipment maintenance and inventory.
  • Assists with student‑athlete study table coverage and coordination.
  • Projects and promotes an inclusive education with the highest standards, empowering student‑athletes to achieve personal and professional success as global citizens.
  • Acts as an ambassador of the college and conducts oneself positively to heighten the awareness of the institution to all its constituents.
  • Operates within the mission of the college and athletics department to ensure a full NCAA DII student‑athlete experience.
  • Follows all institutional, GMAC and NCAA regulations regarding men’s lacrosse and athletics in general.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.
Special Requirements

All members of the Department of Athletics are responsible for knowing and following all institutional, conference and NCAA regulations regarding recruiting and operations of the program. If regulations are not followed and result in a violation, employees are expected to self‑report the violation to the compliance office or to the director of athletics. Employees must understand that those who knowingly violate, conceal, or attempt to cover up violations of NCAA rules shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

Preferred Qualifications & Key Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports management or related field preferred.
  • Acceptance into a Lake Erie College graduate program required.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences.
  • Collegiate playing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
  • Creative, strategic, thoughtful, and a sense of humor.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, as well as across academic and administrative departments.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality and professional conduct.
