Job summary

University of West Georgia (UWG) is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Fraternity & Sorority Life to support advisement, programming, and administrative operations. The role focuses on advising student councils, leadership development, and coordinating FSL programs with campus partners.

The position emphasizes on‑campus engagement, collaboration with Greek life, and professional development in NASPA/AFA contexts, with a monthly stipend and tuition waiver during the appointment.

Qualifications

• Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Be enrolled full‑time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework.
• Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Advise assigned councils and organizations, which may include the Panhellenic Association (PHA), Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and Order of Omega, to strengthen effective operations and student self-governance.
• Coach and support student leaders through regular meetings, communication, and developmental conversations that promote responsible decision‑making, accountability, goal setting, and organizational effectiveness.
• Support chapter and community development efforts, including recruitment and intake, membership growth, belonging, collaboration, and initiatives that strengthen the overall fraternity and sorority experience.
• Engage in professional development through training, supervision, professional associations, and opportunities connected to AFA, NASPA, and the broader student affairs profession.
• Plan, facilitate, and assess educational programs focused on leadership, scholarship, risk management, new member education, organizational development, and the overall member experience.
• Support major FSL programs and initiatives, including the FSL Leadership Retreat, New Member Institute, Greek Week, Stellar Awards, National Hazing Prevention Week, and other departmental events.
• Collaborate with campus and community partners to coordinate programs, resources, and initiatives that advance student learning, engagement, and community development.
• Support departmental operations and organizational records, including membership rosters, chapter information, event documentation, and other administrative processes.
• Utilize university and departmental systems such as Wolf Connect, ReserveWest/EMS, CampusDirector, and Cognito Forms to support organization management, event coordination, and accurate recordkeeping.
• Support assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts by tracking participation, membership trends, program outcomes, and emerging fraternity and sorority life trends to inform future programs and departmental priorities.
