Job summary

UW–Milwaukee is hiring a Graduate Advisor for a 12-month, non-teaching probationary position leading to indefinite status. The role coordinates administrative and student service activities for graduate programs, including admissions, orientation, advising, and progression monitoring.

The successful candidate will interact with students, faculty and staff, uphold FERPA compliance, and help foster inclusive practices across the college. Hybrid work arrangements may be discussed in interviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by date of hire.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
• Experience working with college students.
• Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Experience in recruiting and advising students in higher education is preferred.
• Familiarity with UW System policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary resource for graduate applicants, current students, faculty, staff and stakeholders.
• Complete transcript reviews for prospective students.
• Assist in hosting campus/program recruitment events.
• Provide information about educational options and graduate school requirements.
• Provide in-depth advising promoting graduate student success and degree completion.
• Monitor degree progress and assist students navigating resources.
