Job summary

Texas Materials, a CRH company, is seeking a qualified supervisor to manage the Grading Crew on-site in Central Texas. This full-time role requires coordinating activities, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule alignment with the project plan.

You will operate and direct grading operations, inspect equipment, communicate needs to the superintendent, and ensure paperwork is accurate. Travel may be required; previous motor grader experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years' finish or fine grade operation experience with excavator, motor grader, or related training.
  • Knowledge of surveying and exposure to GPS and robotics.
  • Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications.
  • Reliable and team oriented with strong attendance and safety record.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, plan, and supervise grading crews to meet safety, efficiency and schedule targets.
  • Operate equipment for rough grade, finish grade, slope work and excavation tasks.
  • Inspect equipment before use and at shift end.
  • Inform Superintendent of material, equipment and staffing needs to avoid delays.
  • Complete all project paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Inspect grading work throughout construction to ensure specs compliance.
  • Ability to operate other equipment is preferred.
  • Maintain regular and timely attendance.
  • Frontline safety responsibilities for crew and jobsite.

Position Overview

This is a management position requiring the employee to supervise and coordinate the activities of the Grading Crew.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Coordinating, planning, and supervising grading crews to ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Operating equipment to perform rough grade, finish grade, slope work and other excavating operations.
  • Inspect equipment prior to use and at the end of the shift.
  • Inform the Superintendent of all construction needs (material, equipment, and staffing) promptly to avoid delays.
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Inspect all grading work throughout the construction process to ensure it meets specifications.
  • The ability to operate other types of equipment is preferred.
  • Regular and timely attendance
  • Motor grader experience preferred
  • Frontline safety responsibilities and management for the crew and the jobsite
Qualifications
Education/Experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in finish or fine grade operation with an excavator, motor grader, or related experience and training

Knowledge of surveying and exposure to technical survey systems such as GPS and robotics.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Ability to understand grade stakes.
  • Must be a reliable and trustworthy individual who will be a team player.
  • Must maintain good attendance and safety record.
  • Capability to read and understand project plans and specifications.
  • Must be productive during each shift and be willing to meet the goals that are set.
  • Travel may be required
