Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking an experienced motor grader operator to support heavy civil and infrastructure projects in the Greensboro, NC area. You will operate a motor grader to achieve precise grading, leveraging GPS-grade control to ensure accurate elevation and alignment on road and site works.

You will read digital plans, coordinate with surveyors, and perform pre/post-shift inspections while following safety procedures to maintain efficiency and quality on challenging jobsites.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience operating a motor grader.
• Experience with GPS systems (Trimble, Topcon, Leica, etc.).
• Ability to read grade stakes and plans.
• Understanding of grading principles.
• Strong safety knowledge and awareness.

Responsibilities

• Operate a motor grader (Cat 672 or similar) for fine grading, road construction, and subgrade preparation.
• Utilize GPS/grade control systems to maintain elevation and alignment.
• Read and interpret digital plans and site models.
• Perform daily equipment inspections (pre- and post-shift).
• Coordinate with surveyors and crew to ensure grade accuracy.
• Maintain proper blade control for smooth, uniform surfaces.
• Follow all safety procedures and jobsite protocols.
• Report equipment issues promptly.
• Maintain production efficiency while minimizing rework.
