Job summary

Notre Dame de Sion is seeking a Grade School Math Interventionist to support K-8 student achievement with focused Tier II instruction. You will deliver high-quality math instruction in small groups, using data to drive differentiation and enrichment where appropriate.

You will collaborate with the Math Coach and school leadership to implement evidence-based interventions, monitor progress, and communicate results to families and school staff within an inclusive, faith-based community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education or related field.
  • Experience using data to differentiate instruction.
  • Ability to pass a required background check.
  • Organized, self-starter who can move between tasks.
  • Strong understanding of child growth and development.
  • Commitment to inclusive and diverse learning community.
  • Knowledge of best practices in student instruction and learning.
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, parents, and peers.
  • Experience using curricular resources (Eureka Math, Arts and Letters).

The Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in math (K-8) with special attention to Tier II instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically and those needing enrichment. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. This position will work closely with the school Math Coach and the Tier III Inclusion Specialist.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Provides high quality math instruction to individual and small groups.
  • Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade level or enrich those above grade level
  • Collaborates with building Math Coach, teachers, and administration to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
  • Uses identified research-based interventions focusing specifically on individual student needs
  • Communicates with Math Coach, teachers, and administration regarding student progress
  • Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups
  • Provides diagnostic progress monitoring for students as needed
  • Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and building Math Coach to discuss student placement and progress
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
  • Knowledge and understanding of and commitment to the Sion mission.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education or related field.
  • Experience and knowledge of working with data to differentiate instruction
  • Ability to pass a required background check
  • Organized, self-starter who can efficiently move between tasks throughout the day
  • Strong understanding of child growth and development
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse community as reflected through the curriculum and learning environment.
  • Knowledge and implementation of best practices in student instruction and learning.
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, parents, and peers.
  • Previous experience using curricular resources (Eureka Math, Arts and Letters).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently work in a classroom environment.
  • Abilily to work at a desk and computer for a period of time.
  • Ability to move about a multi level building.
