Job summary

F. C. Plecker & Sons is seeking a Grade Foreman to supervise grading and sitework on construction projects.

You will lead field crews, operate and oversee heavy equipment, and ensure work meets plans, specs, and safety standards. This role emphasizes accurate grading, strong communication with clients, inspectors, and owners, and timely project updates from the field. You will coordinate with project teams, manage equipment usage, and enforce safety on a year-round outdoor jobsite.

Qualifications

• 10+ years operating heavy equipment (grading experience preferred).
• Experience with Trimble GPS Rover for Grading and Utilities.
• Must be able to communicate with Clients and attend meetings as needed.
• Reliable, safety-minded, and willing to work outdoors year-round.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of grading and sitework crews.
• Read and interpret construction plans, grading plans, elevations, and specs.
• Establish and maintain proper grades and elevations throughout the project.
• Direct excavation, earthmoving, backfilling, compaction, and fine grading operations.
• Coordinate the use of bulldozers, excavators, motor graders, loaders, compactors, and other heavy equipment.
• Ensure work is performed according to project plans, specifications, and schedules.
• Monitor jobsite conditions and identify potential grading or drainage issues.
• Communicate daily work plans and expectations to crew members.
• Coordinate with project superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and other trades.
• Monitor crew productivity and equipment usage.
• Enforce company safety policies and maintain a safe, organized jobsite.
• Perform daily inspections of work areas and report progress or concerns to management.
• Assist with training and developing crew members.
• Perform other duties as required to support successful completion of projects.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Grade Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating grading and sitework operations on construction projects. This position leads field crews, operates and oversees heavy equipment, and ensures grading work is completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications. This position will also directly communicate with Clients, Inspectors, Owner, Etc. Must be able to provide progress updates and look aheads to clients as needed.
