Job description

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Grade Foreman to lead grading operations on residential and commercial construction sites. This hands-on role involves operating heavy equipment, interpreting site plans, managing crews, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specifications.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of foreman experience, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to safety. Must be able to perform physical labor, work long hours in varying weather conditions, and travel to job sites across the region. A valid NC driver’s license, OSHA 10/30 certification (or ability to obtain), and passing a pre-employment drug screen and background check are required.

Essential Job Functions:

• Must be committed to providing and promoting a safe work environment;
• Communicate with Superintendent, Municipality inspectors, and Project Managers regarding daily job scope;
• Follow directions accurately;
• Perform tasks with excavators, dozers, skid steers, and other heavy equipment related to grading;
• Understand and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction stakes to build according to engineered design;
• Manage crew and employees to complete projects safely and efficiently while fostering growth and development;
• Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to team efforts to complete projects.

Position Requirements:

• Physical motions include standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, and squatting;
• Operate machines with or without GPS;
• Regularly lift over 25 pounds; occasionally up to 80 pounds;
• Work long hours, potentially 9 to 12 hours per day;
• Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures;
• Travel to various project locations within the region;
• Adhere to safety rules and obtain OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications if not already held;
• Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times;
• Report to work at designated start times;
• Willingness to work long hours when required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of proven experience as a successful grade foreman;
• Pass pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check;
• Valid documentation for I-9 Immigration requirements;
• Adherence to safety procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook;
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist with various duties;
• Minimum age of 21 years;
• Valid NC Driver’s License with a good driving record;
• Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check;
