Job summary

Sunrock seeks a Grading Foreman to supervise a grading crew and subcontractors on installation and construction grading projects in Durham, NC. The role involves planning, scheduling, reviewing tasks, and maintaining safety and quality standards on site.

The position requires guiding crews, coordinating with supervisors, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and project plans. Regular day/night shifts with possible weekend work and up to 10% travel may occur.

Responsibilities

  • Manage timesheets, paperwork, and daily field reports.
  • Enforce safety rules and PPE usage on site.
  • Maintain clean work area and comply with MSHA/OSHA guidelines.
  • Communicate progress and issues to leadership and clients.

General Summary

The Grading Foreman supervises and works alongside a crew of employees and occasionally subcontractors when needed to assist in the installation and construction grading projects The incumbent will supervise work through the planning and scheduling of work and the review and approval of tasks The individual will practice absolute confidentiality Good judgment and common sense are required in all duties and any other tasks as assigned Normal work hours are the day or night shift eight 8 to fourteen 14 hours Monday through Friday There may be weekend work depending on the contract Minimal overnight travel up to 10 as required This job description provides an overview of responsibilities and task to be performed It is not intended to be an all inclusive job description as needs tend to change over time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complies with all safety policies procedures and established safe practices and ensures that all employees reporting to you do the same
  • Reports all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor andor the Manager
  • Safety & HealthTrains develops and monitors the safety practices including PPE of own employees through regularly scheduled safety meetings one on one development reminders and disciplinary action if necessary
  • Follows all requirements listed in the Supervisor Safety Procedure Manual SSPM including but not limited to safety training emergency procedures accident reporting and investigation and employee observations
  • Ensures compliance of production staff with all policies and procedures OSHA MSHA and NCDOT guidelines
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area and meets other housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock MSHA 30 CFR 5620003 and OSHA 29 CFR 191022 and ensures that all employees reporting to you do the same
  • Reads and follows plans material lists and guidelines and applies necessary timelines
  • Fulfills all regular and advanced installationconstruction duties including project layout and completes required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Organizes supervises leads and trains employees to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframe
  • Submits crewmembers timesheets to payroll by required deadline
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledgeskill
  • Enforces all client required safety policies and procedures
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and safety requirements including crewmember discipline and documentation
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities
